Hand Drumming Excursions is for the advanced hand drummer. It uses the oral rhythm methodology, concepted by Babatunde Olatunji. This book continues and expands development of facility, technique and rhythmic awareness learned in the book, Hand Drumming Independence. Within these pages are dexterity exercises based on rhythmic concepts present in the music of peoples around the planet. This book will enrich a drummer's vocabulary of hand drumming styles and categorized indigenous rhythms she or he may encounter. Photo illustrations are given to show hand positions. Reference notes and material is added for musical and cultural understanding. Also included is a collection of bass drum patterns and bell patterns to accompany and support hand drummers.
